babylon falling shaun roberts the end is near

Shaun just brought over the photos from the night.

The show will be up until the week of June 16th, when everything will start to come down day by day, and our last day in business will be June 18th. Of course the sale ( 50% off everything except the artwork in the current exhibit) will continue right up until the last day.

The pictures are also on our Events page in our usual slideshow format but I’ve put every single one of them below. I originally was going to do captions but lost the heart when I realized just how many photos I’m posting. Thanks to everyone that came out. We had a great turnout and it was all love.

Neighborhood Watch, the end is near…

artbusiness.com just put up the photos from David Young’s show, Neighborhood Watch, at Cafe Royale.

Accompanying the photos is a great review of the show written by poet/writer/artist Alan Kaufman. The review of the show and Alan’s perceptions about David’s work and all that has quietly been happening on the downtown art scene is pretty on point. He has a few kind words for Babylon Falling as well and I can’t say I disagree.

Check out the review (towards the bottom of the page) at http://www.artbusiness.com/1open/firstth0509b.html

And of course tonight is our big group retrospective show, ‘the end is near…’. The show is more or less all hung and I know I’ve said the same for every show we’ve had here but this one can’t be missed.

New work from Robert Bowen, David Choong Lee, John Felix Arnold III, Emory Douglas, David Ball, David Young, Christopher Burch, a wall of photos from Shaun Roberts, and classic pieces from Hal Lawrence, Le Bijoutier, Shawn Mortensen, C3, buZ blurr, and Peter Simon.

We’re also giving out a DVD that contains hundreds of pictures taken over the course of the life of the store, all of our studio visits, a gallery of all our show flyers, and a teaser of our trip last summer to Jamaica. Shaun killed it with fully functional menus and he didn’t skimp with the photos…a bunch of pictures I’d never even seen.

Come out tonight and see it all for yourself. 6pm-9pm!

Tone Tank- King of Surf Guitar Rap

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Must watch.

This is kind of like ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’ meets ‘Pee Wee’s Playhouse’, with a rapping sea creature driving a driving a red, paper Mache, 68′ Cadillac with dinosaurs, luchadores, and debaucherous women.

Directed by Paul Korzan.
